Maths
Maths is essential for understanding the world and developing problem-solving skills that pupils will use throughout their lives. Our Maths curriculum follows a mastery approach, ensuring that all pupils develop a deep, secure, and adaptable understanding of mathematical concepts.
We follow the White Rose scheme, which provides a structured and progressive approach to learning. This enables pupils to build strong foundations in number, calculation, geometry, measure, statistics, and algebra, whilst developing fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving skills. Concepts are introduced in small, carefully sequenced steps, allowing pupils to secure knowledge and apply it in different contexts.
Through our Maths curriculum, we ensure that pupils:
- Develop fluency in mathematical facts, methods, and procedures.
- Reason mathematically, using logical thinking and justification.
- Solve problems by applying their understanding to real-life and mathematical situations.
- Build confidence and resilience, recognising that mistakes are part of the learning process.
Our Maths lessons are designed to be engaging, inclusive, and challenging, helping all pupils to develop a love for maths and the ability to apply their learning with confidence.
